Today I have cut my hair, but tomorrow, I intend to do more than just cut.

Hi, I'm Satine!

I'm 15 and I've shaved my hair because I want to act out and stop being a bystander, but a fighter. I had stumbled upon a few books, such as ‘Every Woman’s Guide to Saving the Planet’ and ‘Half the Sky’, which touched on global issues such as sexual abuse, violence in third-world countries, and inequality within genders, as well as children diagnosed with illnesses who are forcibly isolated from society, which negatively affects their well-being. The first few chapters not only clearly explained these issues but also clearly explained and outlined ways that bystanders can become helpers. I have read and read, only becoming stressed and overwhelmed with these issues, but these two books were significantly different in that they gave me the courage to act out and stop being a bystander, but a fighter. So, with the extensive research I undertook and the stories I found on numerous websites, I feel confident in wanting to help raise awareness about at least one of the issues I read about. My choice of wanting to shave my head is something I want to do…not for myself, but for the marginalised, just like how Jesus Christ helped those in need.
