I'm chopping my hair and need your help!

I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

I'll be chopping off at least 40cm on Thursday 1st of July 2021

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.

Wig Deep for Hair with Heart

Over the past 9 years, my daughter Lily, has experienced many visits to the Children's hospital due to her own medical conditions. Each and every time we visit the hospital for routine checkups, Lily shows great concern for the other children also visiting the hospital. At the start of this year, while at one of Lily's appointments,  Lily met a little girl with Alopecia. Lily was inquisitive and asked many questions about the girl's condition. On the drive home, Lily became very sad and said "it's not fair mum that she doesn't have hair, I can cut my hair and give it to her". I explained to Lily that there are many children and adults around the world who suffer from this condition and that there is a way to help them if she wanted to. Lily was intrigued to learn more. I continued to explain to her that there are many charity foundations we could raise money for and that she could also cut her hair and donate it to a charity of her choice, and that organisation would make a wig from the hair and give it to someone in need. Lily was so happy to hear that she could help. Lily said, "mum I'm going to grow my hair to my bum and then cut it all off and donate it, so maybe a little girl like me can have beautiful hair too".  I was extremely proud to hear this.
So now has come the time to take action, Lily's hair has grown long enough to donate. Lily is booked in to see our regular hairdresser on Thursday 1st of July, when she will have the chop. We will make sure to take a video of the event and upload it for all to see.  Lily's hair will be donated to Hair with Heart. 
We have set up this go fund me page to be able to raise funds to donate to several organisations that make wigs for leukemia and alopecia sufferers.
