I'm chopping my hair and need your help!

I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

I'll be donating about 40cm on the 8th of December. 

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.

The style is very different

Thursday 8th Dec
So after a very intense day and a twisted ankle, we saw our wonderful friend who happens to also be our hairdresser and she divided then plaited my hair. It was about 45cm in the end we were able to cut off and have placed safely ready to post off for variety. Thank you all for the kind encouragement and support. Hopefully this now will be of use for the wig makers and they can bring joy to a child with alopecia or cancer needing a wig. 💇🏼‍♀️💇🏼‍♀️💇🏼‍♀️💇🏼‍♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😊

1 day to go! Starting to feel a bit nervous now.

Wednesday 7th Dec
So it’s really close now, 4pm ish tomorrow and I will lose about 45cm or more if possible from the length of my hair. Chosen my new style and planned my day tomorrow. If you were thinking about helping this is the time to do it! Hoping that even in this small way it helps, cancer and alopecia is so hard on everyone but especially on kids who haven’t worked out who they are in the world yet. Give if you can please, and thanks so much to all that have already done so. 

Maybe they can straighten it to get more length

I’ve. had my hair straightened only a few times, it takes so long and just doesn’t last. Wonder though if the people making wigs would consider that because they would get more length?

Monday 28th Nov
Starting to be both excited and terrified about having so much hair cut off, also considering what sort of style I will go with once it’s gone. Hmmm, a bob? Maybe 🤔. It’s been a very long time since my hair was that short, thinking around 25 years.
