It's time for the big chop...

I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

I'll be chopping off most of my hair sometime in the next month. 

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. I want to try and fundraise enough to cover the cost of a wig. Thank you for helping kids in need.

Tuesday 15th Jun
The school edition.

We've pulled out the last four years of school photos. We don't think that the growth between the first and second photo is a year, but it's definitely longer... it's from that point - 2018 that he started growing his hair. You'll have to check out the Facebook and (maybe) instagram posts to see all the images.

A pity he hasn't received this years pictures back to see the change again.

We are so grateful to all our supporters - we're able to say that we've reached 1/3 of our goal. Amazing.

Monday 7th Jun
The  mohawk edition.

This great hairstyle is compliments of a young Jos' intense dislike of haircuts. 

When it was time for a trim, I would use the trimmer and we'd do the cut in two stages. 

Stage one - back and sides - leaving a mohawk. And if he wanted we'd dye it for a few days before finishing the rest of the cut.

This particular day was a crazy hair day at school when Jos was in kindy. Worked in well for getting the haircut started.

But someone wasn't too impressed about having his photo taken.

Wednesday 2nd Jun
I'm including a few photos here of Jos aged roughly 15 months. 

This is an image of Jos a couple of days before his first ever haircut. He was a little over 15 months old. 

It's been a lot longer between haircuts this time 'round!

The matching social media posts will have a few more photos of the haircut. Take my word for it, it made a pretty big difference to his appearance. 

I wonder if this time 'round will be as much of a difference?

I've contacted our hairdresser today to try and make a booking for the big chop. I'll update with a date when I've got it locked in.

Any suggestions on what hair style he should go for? I've voted against a mullet!

Sunday 30th May
This is Jos' mum Tara. I'm going to do a series of pictures showcasing Jos' hair over the years. He's always had great hair. Here he is at about 10 months old. 

He'd never had a haircut at this stage, so we were yet to discover that haircuts weren't his favourite thing.

Thank you to all our friends and family who have already sent through support for Hair with Heart. We are absolutely blown away by everyone's generosity.

Not Knots

Wednesday 26th May
My hair gets pretty knotty and I don't really like brushing it very much. But with the big chop coming up, I need to keep it nice.

Mum brushed all the knots out tonight. She recently discovered the original Tangle Teezer and it has been so good for getting out the knots - almost painlessly. We bought ours from Priceline.
