I'm chopping my hair and need your help!

I've been growing my hair for the past three years and I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating it to be made into a wig for another child who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

I'll be chopping off 15 inches of hair when I reach my fundraising goal - hopefully soon!

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need.

Thank you all for supporting my cause. We’ve finally reached our goal, and you know what that means! Stick around because we’ll be live-streaming the big chop tomorrow evening at 5pm.

Chopping my hair once I reach my goal

Sunday 15th Aug
I’ve decided I really want to reach my fundraising goal so I’m going to wait to get my hair cut until that time comes.

Even though I’m ok with my Mum cutting my hair, a small part of me hopes lockdown will be over by then and I can go to a professional hairdresser. 😎

I want to reach my goal

Wednesday 11th Aug
So I’ve decided I won’t cut my hair until I reach my fundraising goal. I hope I do because I’m keen to get a haircut. 

At first I wanted to wait until lockdown is over and I can go to a professional hairdresser, but,  I changed my mind and I’m going to let my mum do it instead. The Sydney lockdown will probably go on for longer so I may as well let her. 

Postponing the chop

Sunday 1st Aug
So we're in lockdown here in Sydney until the end of August. I was going to have my hair cut the day after my 13th birthday, which was yesterday, 1 August.

With COVID lockdowns, we can't go to the hairdresser's to have it cut professionally. I have two options. I can wait until after lockdown to go to the hairdresser, or; I can get my mum to cut my hair. I think she's keen.

She's going to be one busy hairdresser because both my younger sister and brother need haircuts too! 

Moving the goal post

Sunday 27th Jun
Wow! We didn’t think we’d reach our goal on the first day. Thank you so much to everyone’s generosity. 

When me and my Mom first signed up we didn’t really know how much to put as our goal, so we didn’t know what to expect, but amazingly we’ve passed the goal point, so we’ve decided to raise it higher.

I hope more donations take place, as we’re going to have to reach $2000. I first thought that the number was unreachable, but we’re gonna find out. Plus, we’ve got a whole month left until the big chop. How hard can it be?
