Ailsa's Big Chop

Growing back together

I have made the decision to cut and donate my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

A good friend has recently gone through cancer treatment and I thought I'd like to join her and Grow our hair back together (not grow our back hair together).

I'll be chopping off 35cm of hair at the end of May or as soon as I reach my goal.

I'm looking for 1000 friends and family to donate $1 each, making a combined $1000 donation to variety.

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need.

Thank you for helping kids in need.

Monday 24th May
Thanks to everyone for your support and donations. Thanks to Sharon for her expertise.

My thanks

Monday 17th May
Had a couple of tears this evening when I saw all the donations come in. Some of you I haven't seen for so long and I was really touched by your generosity.
Following that I started panicking about looking like Jaba the Hutt when my hair was cut.
I've been in touch with Sharon and I'll post some pictures of the cut later this week.

Saturday 15th May
Only $155 to go, time to book the appointment I think.
Thanks again to generous friends for their donations.

Nearly halfway there

Friday 7th May
Well either I have extremely generous friends or I have less friends than I thought.
I'd planned to hit up a tonne of you for a buck but have nearly got to the halfway point with less than 10 donations!!!
Thanks for the support gang and I'm going out to buy a beanie!

Thanks for all the support

wow amazing job - loving the short hair am sure it won’t be long till it grows back! As we say over here it’s only a week between a bad haircut and a good one (one of dad and probably uncle bills sayings!)
