I'm chopping my hair and need your help!
Nearly a decade ago I started to grow my hair out to one day donate to a charity. This decision was made after seeing the way having a wig affected my grandmother in her own battle with cancer. I’ll always remember her and my Popa showing up to our house in Brooklin.
“Elsa, look at you, look at your hair, you look beautiful” the smile that grew on her face as she wrapped me up in a hug and whispered “Zachary, this isn’t my hair”.
Seeing first hand the impact a wig made on her confidence was something that really inspired me. Something as simple as just growing out my hair could lead to someone else’s loved one having that same refreshed confidence during a difficult time, it was a no brainer.
With making many moves the last few years across Canada and to Australia I had struggled to find the right organization to donate to. However recently I discovered Variety and reminded myself of why I even have long hair in the first place. I have the opportunity to gift a child with something that could help them during a fight far more difficult than anything I’ve ever had to face.
Variety presents myself the opportunity to repurpose my hair to benefit a child during a very difficult time. Whilst also allowing myself to help raise funds for other elements of helping these children and their families. Variety supports kid who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs by providing practical equipment, programs and experiences to help them overcome obstacles and live life to the fullest. If you would like to donate and help Aussie children I would truly appreciate it, no matter the size of the donation, every little bit helps and goes towards a really great cause.
Much love and thank you for your support,
Zach
