Help me make a difference!
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to live a life that is greater than my own, one that can make an impact (whether big or small) and inspire those who are watching to do the same. In my final year of high school, I decided to grow out my hair for charity. Honestly, the first year was a nightmare. There were many instances where I felt like giving up because it was so frustrating whenever my hair got in my face and it was too short to tie up. After two long years of perseverance, I finally cut my hair. This hair will be donated to a charity that makes wigs for those that cannot grow hair due to underlying medical conditions.
More often than not, we can become self-conscious about the way we look. We have become extremely meticulous in the way we present ourselves to the world. I often see people throw tantrums for not getting their way because their hairdresser didn't do a good enough job, or because they don’t have ‘any clothes’ to wear after going through 20 outfits. Although it is completely normal to care about those things, we should love ourselves for who we are. We give our appearances too much credit and sometimes, we just need to be more carefree about it. We should be grateful for what we have.
For us, it is just hair that will always grow back. But for many other unfortunate people, it is a privilege and a luxury. The cost of wigs can vary anywhere from $50 to up to $6000, lasting a couple of years. But by donating your hair, you can help make a difference in someone else’s life for free. I challenge you to do the same and give a piece of yourself to someone less fortunate than yourself.
