I'm chopping my hair and need your help!

On the week of my birthday I've had time to sit and reflect on my the year that's been and the year that lies ahead.

On reflection, especially with the events that have happened both in my own personal life as well as those on a global scale, I can see that there have been some big and unforeseen changes.

I think sometimes we get a little paralysed by fear and by change, and if you allow it, the little voice in your head wins at it tells you that you're just one person and what can you do as one person anyway...

However, I've decided to make a stand and that although I'm one person, I'm going to do what I can with what I've got to make a difference. Consequently, I plan to donate 36cm of my much loved hair.

Am I a little scared? Yes I am. I truly do love my hair and in researching the average growth rate of hair I can see that on average hair grows at roughly 1cm a month (so effectively I'm donating 36 months or 3 years of my life.)

However, my want to make a difference trumps the fear and the love of my hair. (It will grow back *eventually*)  

Therefore, after conducting a little research, I have opted to donate my hair to Variety Hair with Heart. This company helps to provide wigs made from natural hair to those "who have lost their hair due to a medical condition, including long-term conditions such as alopecia and trichotillomania, and temporary hair loss, including kids undergoing treatment for cancer."
