New decade, new hair! Help me make my big chop count!
I'm turning 30 in August and before my hair starts going
grey, I'm donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their
hair due to a medical condition.
I'll be chopping off 14 inches of hair sometime in August.
Why donate?
Unfortunately, not all medical equipment can be covered by Medicare. When my son was diagnosed with sleep apnoea as a newborn, we had to cover the cost of his portable oxygen tank. Without a portable tank we wouldn't have been able to give him oxygen when he had a nap away from home. But getting out and socialising was really important for our family's mental health and it's small things like this that add up. Thankfully, my son doesn't require oxygen for sleep anymore but for some families there are ongoing costs associated with caring for a child with additional needs.
Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need.
It would be amazing to to reach my fundraising goal of $1000. Your generous donation will make a big difference to the lives of kids and families in need!
