I'm chopping off my hair and need your help!

I’ve always loved my long hair, ever since I was a little girl. My long hair was just as much a part of me as the freckles on my face. So much so, that my parents had to beg me to go to the hairdressers, only for me to compromise on a 2 inch trim - yearly. I dearly love my long hair. 

But I’m turning 20 now and I’ve come to realise what a privilege I have in the first place to be able to even grow it out at all - let alone worry about the length of it. So it’s because I love my hair so much that it’s simply got to go. 

I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition. To give someone else the same confidence my own hair has given me. 

I'll be chopping off approximately 16 inches of my hair (approx. 40cm) before the 8th of July (with a little wiggle room if covid send us into another lockdown).

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.

I want to thank all you wonderful people who made a donation - I couldn’t of raised this much without you. I’ve finally chopped off the 16 inches of hair and my head has never felt lighter. I not only feel great from the alleviated weight but also I can’t help feel happy knowing that my hair will be going to a child in need. I hope my and your contributions will go one to make a difference in these children’s lives and whilst we might know these children personally, any form of kindness and compassion makes the world a better place - even from afar. 

Thank you all again so much, I can’t express my gratitude enough. Maybe, you’ll all see me again on this website in a few years once my hair has grown back.

Thank you to all those who have donated! We’ve reached the initial goal of $1000 only a day in and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the support. 

Your donations will be going towards helping these children have a sense of normalcy in their lives, allowing these kids to just simply be kids - even for a moment. These kids deserve everything and more which is why I will be setting a new target goal of $1,500.
