I’ve chopped my hair. You can help too

I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

I chopped it off on the 22/05/20 and managed to donate 39cms. 

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.

Hair and identity

Monday 25th May
After having my third child I lost a considerable amount of hair. 
Seeing chunks of my hair in my hands and developing a receding hairline, which I tried to cover with the rest of my hair, was a scary and confronting thing to go through. I hadn’t realised how much my hair, or at least control over my hair, had played a part in my identity. Particularly, in my feelings of femininity.  
Late one night as I was breastfeeding my son, I madly googled what I would/could do if it didn’t grow back. After discovering the cost of wigs, and other hair replacement therapy, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best, knowing I could not afford any of the options available. 
My hair did grow back, but it occurred to me that for so many people out there, that is not the outcome. So I decided to do what I could to help. 
I made a decision that I was going to donate my hair, and a little over 3 years later, that is exactly what I did.
