I'm chopping my hair and need your help!
Hi My name is Maddyson, I am 10 years old I am a Girl Guide and for my service part of my BP award I have decided to raise money for Variety - the Children's Charity and cut my hair to donate to Variety Hair with Heart.
A friend of my families daughter Bonnie was diagnosed Medulloblastoma, childhood brain tumour/s in 2014 at the age of 6 old. Bonnie had to have many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation but sadly the tumours kept spreading and on Wednesday the 12th of August 2020 the day after my 10th birthday we were told Bonnie has passed away.
While looking through photos of Bonnie I asked my mum why people sick like Bonnie loose their hair? And I wish I could help them by giving them some of my hair and I want to do something to give back in Bonnie’s memory. Mum and I worked together to see if I could do this and through Variety Hair with Heart I am able to donate my hair and raise money for Variety to help others who are sick, disadvantage or living with disabilities.
When I donate my hair it will be made into a wig for another person that has lost their hair due to medical conditions and treatments. Wigs cost families up to $6,000 a wig, lasting only 1-2 years.
By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child and families in need.

I will be cutting my hair off and donating it at the end of February 2021.
