I'm chopping my hair and need your help!
For anyone who knows me, my hair has been my pride and joy since I was very little and holds a lot of cultural significance for me.
In Aboriginal culture, some choose to cut their hair during times of loss, and the process of regrowth is a symbol for healing and rebirth- so cutting my hair has never been necessary for me as of yet.
A few months ago, I learned that sometimes children my age (and younger) can become sick and lose their hair. I found this very upsetting and wanted to do something.
I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.
I'll be chopping off 25 cm on the 29th of December 2021.
Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.
