Hi! I'm chopping my hair again and need your help!
In 2018 I chopped my hair and made my first donation to variety hair with heart. 3.5years later and it’s time for round 2!
I’ll be chopping off ≈15inches (38cm) of my hair mid September. My donated hair will be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.
Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth.
Variety is a Charity that hits close to home.. Many years ago Variety helped my family. My sister Eb has an acquired brain injury that left her unable to speak for many many years. She carried around 2 books full of laminated photos or printed words to communicate her needs and even her name. Before iPhones and iPads came about, Variety helped us secure a device called a MiniMo. It was essentially a touch screen device that you could input pictures and words and it would make what she wanted to say audible. This meant she didn’t have to flip through pages and pages at a time to try and put a sentence together and even though it sounds small, it impacted her and our lives greatly.
