I'm doing the Hair with Heart challenge and I need your help!

I’ve made the decision to take on the Hair with Heart challenge and change lives!

Variety – The Children’s Charity supports kids who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability.

I will be fundraising to help raise vital funds for Australian kids in need, including kids who are experiencing permanent hair loss from medical conditions such as alopecia and cancer.

Every gift, no matter the amount, makes a difference.

Chopped!

Friday 27th Jun
80cm gone! So it was done today. My hair got chopped! It is the shortest it has been in a very long time. It feels so lightweight and amazing. Will be less noticeable when I lose my hair postpartum. My vacuum will love me for it.
Tahlia will never remember me with long hair, but I have some photos to prove it. 
Most importantly is that together we have raised a phenomenal amount to go towards disadvantaged children, and a few wigs can be made from the 80cm in length of hair that I have donated.
Thank you to Rob from Ricci Hair Studio in Leichhardt for doing an amazing job at cutting my hair. Thank you to all who have supported me in this journey and to those who have donated so generously to the cause,

Okay we are all set to go. I have booked myself in for the chop at Ricci hair studio in Leichhardt on Friday 27th June. My lovely David will be at home as the temporary walking milk bar for Tahlia while I get the chop.

Ling is going to be my wonderful support person as I get the chop.


Thank you to everyone who has supported me and encouraged me in donating my hair to those less fortunate than us. A big thank you to those who have donated. I am nearly at my goal of raising $1500.

It is still not too late to donate. Every little bit counts. Even a few dollars is amazing. Plus if your donation is over $2 it is tax deductible. If you wanted to you can still head on over to my page to donate.


As the day approaches I am feeling a bit anxious. My long hair is a part of my identity. I have been known as the lady with the long hair who rides a motorbike to many students and motorists over the years. But a change is due. 


The past few years has been really tough with David and I doing IVF and especially the past year with many losses. I gotta admit that pouring all my time and energy into IVF has taken a toll on me both socially and physically. 

We have, however, made good with what we have and have had a few wins, but the biggest win is the birth of our little Tahlia. I am so grateful and feel so blessed to have her and am ready to give back to the world, both socially and physically.

I figured that postpartum I will probably lose my hair, so why not do some good and donate.

My reason for getting the chop

Thank you for taking the time to click on the link and read this post.

Every 6-7 years I get my long hair chopped and donated so that it can be made into a wig for a very sick kid out there. I’ve done this twice already.
This is the first time that I am doing this in conjunction with a fundraiser. Third time is the charm!
I’ve been putting this off for a while due to many life changing events, namely both parent in laws being recently sick and have since passed away, having a wedding so that all family members can attend, expecting a new baby, giving birth to said rainbow baby, losing another loved one to cancer.
I dedicate this chop to all the loved ones and people that I know who have been taken away by cancer.
