I'm donating my hair and would love your help!

I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

I'll be chopping off all of my hair (buzz cut, here I come!) on November 12th, 2020.

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.

Counting down the weeks and days! The appointment for chopping all this hair off has been set, and it’s all getting very real now. I’m so excited to donate! 

Why? WHY NOT?

Some friends and family may know I’ve been growing my hair out for quite some time (almost 5 years), and I’ve been asked a lot of questions about wanting to donate my hair! 

Biggest question has been ‘why?’ and to that all I can really say is, well, why not? It’s a simple way that I can do my bit to help out someone who is going through a difficult time. I’m fortunate enough to be in a position to do something good, so of course I want to. 

I’m definitely a bit nervous, but for every wave of nerves I get at the thought of getting rid of all my hair, I have ten times as much excitement! The children that Variety supports, they are the bravest of brave, and if they can go through all that they do, then surely I can put down the straightener and go without hair for a while! 

I’d be so thankful for anyone who decides to jump on board and help with the monetary donation (or donate your hair too, if you‘re game!). Whether it’s $1 or $50 or simply finding another way to pay it forward with a random act of kindness somewhere in your day, I encourage everyone to do their part to put some more positivity into the world. I think we can all agree that 2020 could do with a big dose of positivity and good news!
