Gift a smile to a child - I'm shaving my head!
This year for my birthday I have decided to cut and donate my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair to a medical condition. This is something I have been thinking about for a while and I am happy to have finally made the decision to go ahead with it.
I am extremely lucky to have a roof to sleep under, to have access to clean water and food, to be surrounded by a loving and supporting community of friends and family, and to have a regular and stable income that allows me to provide and look after myself. But, most importantly, I am extremely lucky to be healthy and be able to grow hair as I please.
On the evening of Thursday the 17th of June 2021, I will be shaving my head and donate my hair to a child in need. The lovely staff of 9 Degrees Enogerra Bouldering Gym are kindly letting me host a little fundraising event at their gym (starting from 5PM). So, if you are in Brisbane, I encourage you to come have a climb and help me chop my hair.
I am hoping with this donation I can gift a smile to a child and their family. And I kindly ask you to help me make this smile larger and more powerful. Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping gifting a smile to a child.
