My name is Chris
Hi,
My name is Chris. It's actually Christina, but growing up so many people called me Christine and I hated having to correct them every time. "Na! Christina!" used to shout out my friends in classrooms, when even the teachers made mistakes.
At one point I couldn't be bothered any more, so since then I decided to go by Chris thinking it would make my life so much easier. Boy was I wrong.
Being called Mr over the emails was actually understandable. Not pleasant but understandable. But the real pet peeve was that people started calling me "Kim."
My name is Chris Kim. So "Chris" is my first name and "Kim" is my last name. I understand "Kim" is as much a first name as "Chris" so maybe that's why they call me Kim? Or they know I am a girl so they think I am a Kimberley? Thinking I can't possibly be a Chris? When I was wearing my lanyard I had random people coming up to me saying creeply "You are not Chris. You can't be Chris" I had no idea it was going to be this hard.
Anyway. Now you know why you've landed on this page. And since you are already here, I want to tell you a little bit about Variety Australia. Variety is an amazing children's charity that helps children and their families with financial support for things like wheelchairs, specialist equipment, therapy and medical supplies, when they can't afford it and when government assistance isn't available. I got to know Variety through their "Hair with Heart," which is their national hair donation & fundraising program.
Every two years when my hair grows long enough, I donate my hair to "Hair with Heart" so it can be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition. Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a children's youth. By making a donation to Variety, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need.
