I'm doing the Hair with Heart challenge and I need your help!
The Journey So Far
In January 2024, just before starting Primary school, Avery had his last haircut at Disney World. Shortly after, our family’s world changed when his grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. Avery saw firsthand the toll the treatment took, the loss of strength, appetite and hair. When he realized that children and even babies face these same battles, he didn't just feel sad; he wanted to take action.
The Mission
Avery decided then and there to grow his hair to donate to Variety: Hair with Heart. He isn't doing this alone, his dad is growing alongside him, but Avery has been the true leader of this mission.
Strength Through the Long Hair Phase
This journey hasn't always been easy. For over two years, Avery has grown his hair beautifully, but he has also faced being teased or mistaken for a girl. Despite the comments, he has never wavered. His determination to help other children feel confident again is stronger than any "pretty hair" jokes. He knows that a few years of long hair for him means a lifetime of confidence for a child receiving a wig.
The Big Goal
Avery has set a goal to finally make the Big Chop around his 8th birthday: May 4th, 2027. By then, it will have been over three years since his last trim.
Inspired by Avery’s heart and determination, we’ve decided to go a step further. We are now donating 50% of profits from our hair accessories range from our small business The Matching crew & co to help reach our fundraising goal. ( https://thematchingcrew.square.site/)
How You Can Help
We are raising funds to support Variety in providing wigs and essential equipment to children in need. Whether you can donate a little or a lot, you are helping Avery celebrate his 8th birthday by giving the gift of hope.

You are amazing!!
