I'm chopping my hair and need your help!
I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.
I'll be chopping off (insert how many cms/in you'll be donating - min 35.5cm) on (insert the date of your big chop, or an approximate date or month if you're not sure).
Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.
My Updates
Big Chop Day
Wednesday 14th Sep After 4 years of growing my hair and also no colouring of my hair, the day finally came to follow through with my goal on Friday 2nd September. Although it was a little daunting I always knew I was doing it for a good cause. At the end of the day I can always regrow my hair, but some of these kids can not. Hair becomes part of our identity and to loose it, would mean loosing part of your identity. I know many would be over seeing my posts about this but I am pretty proud of myself that I have followed through with my goal. Anyway this is over and out for me. Thanks everyone xx Share
Family photos done and haircut booked
Saturday 27th Aug Today we had some family photos done before I get this hair cut off. And hair cut is booked for 2nd Sept. Share
Family photos booked
Saturday 13th Aug As it won’t be long until my hair gets the big chop, I decided to book some family photos to at least capture its length. These are booked for the last weekend in August. So I am hoping for early September to get it all cut off, I just need to find someone that I can trust to cut it off.
My Journey to the Big Chop
Monday 1st Aug I have been growing my hair for over 3 years now. Initially I started growing it as I had always wanted to see what my hair would be like long and curly hair but after my hair got to a certain point my reasoning for growing it changed. I decided that I would continue to grow it in order to donate to charity. I decided on Variety’s Charity, Hair with Heart that makes wigs for kids that have lost their hair, whether it be from chemotherapy or even alopecia. It’s been a long journey but my issues with my hair would be nothing compared to what the kids that need the wigs would be going through. And if I can do something as small as this to make their life a little better then I will. Thanks for all the support
