I'm chopping my hair and need your help!

I have made the decision to make a difference by cutting and donating my hair to be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

I'll be chopping off 36cm!

Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to Variety - the Children's Charity, you can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need. Thank you for helping kids in need.

Tuesday 3rd Nov
It’s gone! After 2 years of growing her beautiful long locks, Mikiyah has had the chop! AND WE LOVE IT! 

I can’t thank Sara from Samsara Organics enough for donating her time to give Mikiyah her cut, reassuring her that it will look great and then nailing the perfect bob, ensuring that we left the salon smiling. 

We definitely had a few nervous moments as we measured out the hair, realizing the change she was about to endure, but, she did it and she couldn’t be prouder and neither can I! Stay tuned for some updated photos! 

Again, both Mikiyah and I can thank everyone enough for there incredible donations-  not only had this had a profound impact on Mikiyah and her confidence but it will, in turn have a profound impact on the recipients of variety and hair with heart. 

For those who haven’t and can- please donate! We will leave this fundraiser open for a few more days, before we send her hair off! 

She’s hit her GOAL, so we’re moving the goal posts!

Firstly, Mikiyah would like to thank everyone for your incredible generosity. With your help, Mikiyah has raised more than double her initial goal of $300. I wish I had recorded her reaction when I showed her this morning, she was moved to tears of happiness and you could not wipe the smile off her face reading all of your beautiful words of encouragement. 

So, the challenge has been set. Mikiyah is keen to see if we can reach $1000!!

A Small Girl with a Big Heart

Two years ago, at just 9 years old, Mikiyah came to me and asked me if she could grow her hair long so she could donate it to make wigs for people who have no hair. Of course I agreed and allowed her the challenge of growing it, knowing it would take quite some time to achieve. 

Mikiyahs hair has always been a cause of stress for her. Mikiyah presents with some sensory sensitivity and as her hair has got longer and less easier to control it has become the cause of some frustration for her, we are forever brushing, washing, moisturizing and brushing it again. However, she is a determined young lady with a big heart and has persisted- her hair, now touching her bottom, is ready for the big chop! 

Please support Mikiyah by making a donation for Variety as she prepares to gift her hair to someone in need. Any amount big or small would be greatly appreciated.
